Hank Williams Lost Highway

In 1995, Jason was working at Opryland music park in Nashville, TN, when the director of the musical drama, "Hank Williams: Lost Highway", saw his performance. Jason was asked to read for the lead role of the country music legend and the director was so impressed, he cast Jason on the spot. It was this break that propelled Jason into the spotlight. Jason drew rave reviews from critics and audiences alike during  "Hank Williams: Lost Highway's" two-year run at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

The Ryman is the former home of the Grand Ole Opry. As everyone knows, Hank Williams was country music's most influential figure. He penned such classics as 'You're Cheatin' Heart', 'Hey Good Lookin', 'Jambalaya', 'I Saw The Light', 'I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry' and many more. Hank electrified audiences in the 40's and 50's, but excesses in alcohol and prescription drugs ended his life tragically at the age of 29. Jason had always been a fan of Williams' music, but didn't know much about the man.

"I did exhaustive research on Hank. I read all the biographies written about him; I spoke with band members and Opry stars that worked with him; I even went to his hometown and interviewed family and friends of his. I did all of this to better understand Hank Williams the man and separate the truth from the legend. That helped me in my portrayal of him on the stage."    'Hank Williams: Lost Highway' became a labor of love for Jason.

He has performed the show all over the U.S. and Canada. While performing the show Off Broadway in New York City, Jason was nominated in all 5 of the major Off Broadway awards shows and won the 2003 Obie Award for Outstanding Performance.

After finishing a nine month run in New York, Jason said his role as Hank may not be over just yet. If 'Hank Williams: Lost Highway' tours again, you just might see him in the starring role. "I have a special place in my heart for the that role and for Hank Williams. I want to be good to it because it has been so good to me."
